  New Pavilion Community Hall

The Parish Council is pleased to report that work has commenced on the new Community Hall for Stoke Holy Cross that will replace the Pavilion on the playing fields. The Parish Council is grateful for the support of the South Norfolk Council Community Infrastructure Fund, which provided matched funding towards the project.

A ‘first spade in the ground’ event attended by Parish Councillors, South Norfolk District Council Portfolio holder for Stronger, Greener, Economy, Lisa Overton-Neal and its Managing Director Trevor Holden, and the contractors Draper and Nicholls, took place on 30th January, to formally announce the start.

The New Hall will include a large multipurpose hall, a meeting room, and a café/bar facility. It will also include greatly improved accommodation for the village pre-school, and a patio and viewing area of the adjacent playing fields.

During construction, the pre-school will operate out of a temporary classroom sited on the car park. Much of the remaining car park will be used for the contractor’s office and compound, and car parking will essentially be limited to users of the pre-school.

The new hall is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024, with the pre-school moving into its permanent accommodation in time for the Autumn term.
